Worldwide reading for Ashraf Fayadh: Machynlleth

On Thursday 14th January, Saudi Arabia plans to execute Ashraf Fayadh, the leading young Palestinian poet and artist. He has been found guilty of rejecting Islam through his poetry; a charge he denies. Dozens of arts organisations have joined with human rights campaigners across the globe to condemn the conviction and to hold protests and readings on the day of his planned execution. In Machynlleth, Mehdi Al Radhi and I will read his poetry in original and in translation as part of this coordinated worldwide reading, alongside musician Gwilym Morus-Baird. Mr Fayadh, who was born in Saudi Arabia but spent much of his life in Palestine, is 36. He has been in prison since January 2014.
